We really like to drink milk, but a tasty fresh milk is so hard to find in Porto Alegre.
We tried a lot of types and the best one we found so far is "Leite Santa Malta". It comes either in a plastic bottle or bag and you can find it in the Zaffari supermarkets. It has 6 days shelf life and it has 3% fat.
In general it is important to know that fresh milk in Brasil is divided to "Tipo A" (Type A), "Tipo B" (Type B) and "Tipo C" (Type C), where Type A is the cleanest, bacteria wise. So make sure you always get a type A milk. Click on the photo for a lerge image.

Dear Dafi,
Congratulations!
You have a great BLOG!
I feel obligated to point out a serious misinformation found in one of your posts, Supermarket category:
-You classified Milk in Brazil A, B and C according to the level of bacteria? that is ludicrous to say the least.
-The milk classification of A, B and C milk is related to the fat content of the milk, being C the lowest in fat and A the highest.
Brazil has a very strict control over pasteurized milk and milk products.
Best Regards
Roger
Me again...I've always known milk ABC were classified so, not only because of bacteria criteria, but also because of fat. That means these categories inform on quality as a whole. Santa Malta is definitely the best. It's the recomended by pediatricians for very small babies, but still very well boiled.
Cheers,
